Specific guidance exists for each material type listed below. Please note that use-of-name guidance for students may be found on the HMS Students page. HMS faculty based at our affiliates should reach out to their employers for guidance on each of the items below.

  • Business Cards

    Business cards may be obtained through the HCOM Marketplace, which can be accessed by the administrative head of each unit.

    Two arrangements exist: one for staff in administrative units, and one for faculty and staff in academic units within the Quad-based departments, both of which are depicted below.

     

     

  • Email Signatures

    Harvard Medical School has established a standard email signature for use by faculty and staff. These email signatures provide a professional, uniform way to share your name, title, contact information and website URL with email recipients.

    If you wish to include your preferred gender pronouns, the information should be positioned on its own line between the phone number and web address in Calibri regular, size 9, black.

  • PowerPoints

    Requests for HMS-branded PowerPoint templates may be made by writing to design@hms.harvard.edu. Please identify your HMS title and full name in the request.

    HMS has a standard template that identifies the individual presenter’s title(s) in text on the title slide. The HMS primary mark appears in the footer of each slide throughout the presentation, and an outline of the lion from the HMS insignia appears in the background of the title, which represents a unique use case within our branding.

    Quad-based staff in administrative units may request unit-specific branding (e.g., Office of Research Administration) in place of the HMS primary mark.

  • Letterheads

    Print letterhead, including envelopes, may be obtained through the HCOM Marketplace, which can be accessed by the administrative head of each unit. 

    Electronic versions of letterhead may be obtained by writing to design@hms.harvard.edu. The administrative director of your unit may also have this file. When writing to request letterhead, please identify your HMS title and full name in the request. 

    Faculty and staff should use the letterhead representing their academic or administrative appointment (e.g., a faculty member whose appointment is in the Department of Genetics should use letterhead containing the Blavatnik Institute Department of Genetics mark). 

    Letterhead featuring the HMS primary mark alone is reserved for use by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for institutional purposes.
